This statement (consisting of.....pages each signed by me) is true to the best of my knowledge and belief and I make it knowing that, if it is tendered in evidence, I shall be liable to prosecution if I have wilfully stated in it anything which I know to be false or do not believe to be true.

I am 74 years of age and reside at the above stated address with my husband Charles.

On 31st July 2007, we went on a cruise around the Mediterranean on the QE2. We'd departed from Southampton on 31st July 2007 and our first stop-over was in Lisbon on 2nd August. We had booked a small tour of Lisbon which was due to set off from the ship at approximately 0930 hours. The tour took us around the main attractions of the city, stopping every so often to allow people on and off the bus. The tour ended at approximately 1230 hours on Blackhorse Square, where myself and my husband were given the opportunity to get off and catch a later bus or return to the ship. We decided to remain in Blackhorse Square and spent some time looking around stalls and shops nearby on the Rua Augusta E Arco Do Triunfo. We found a small cafe to get something to eat and drink. I noticed there was a small kiosk attached to the side of the cafe which was selling ice creams.

Sometime between 1pm and half one, my husband Charles went to look around some of the stalls nearby while I remained at the cafe. Due to ill-health I can't walk great distances.

Continuation Statement of : SHEILA JEAN WACK

After about 20 minutes or so I was wondering where Charles had got to and was looking round to see if I could see him coming back. At this time I noticed a woman with jet-black hair, holding a small girl who appeared to be sleeping, getting an ice cream from the kiosk. I noticed at this time there was a man with them. My attention was drawn to him because the man appeared to be very agitated. There was a slight breeze and the little girl's hat fell off. When it had done this I seen she had whispy light-brown hair, tied in two long pigtails. When I seen this I was reminded of Madeleine McCann. I thought that may be her. At this time the man bent down and picked up the white hat which had blown off her head and placed it back on.
He appeared very agitated at this time and was glancing about him as if he was looking to see if anyone had noticed.

I would say the male was about 5' 2" to 5' 5" with black hair, stocky build. I wouldn't really say what he was wearing but I think he looked Mediterranean in appearance.

The woman that was with him I never seen her face but I think she was about 5' to 5' 2" with jet-black hair and again seemed very Mediterranean/Eastern European.

I was watching them for about 5 to 7 minutes. They were only about 4 yards away from me and we were outside and it was very bright sunny conditions.

I was wondering what to do, however couldn't decide on anything.

When my husband returned I told him what I had seen, however we couldn't decide what to do.

We returned to the ship and I thought about it some more. I got a very sleepless night that night, however the next morning when we woke up we discovered there was a news report stating that Madeleine had been seen in Holland, so I thought I must have been mistaken.

Since returning home from my cruise I have been unwell and this has been the first time I've left the house since returning. Due to the fact that Madeleine has not been found, I thought I should come and inform the Police of what I had seen.

The only thing that makes me think it was Madeleine McCann was the male's agitated state and the little girl's hair as it looked exactly like the pictures of her on TV.

I can't think what the little girl was wearing or state which direction the people went off.

I don't think I would recognise either the male or female again if I seen them.

WITNESS STATEMENT

Statement of : Isabella Millar Brown or Finlayson(sic)
Age of Witness : Over 21
Occupation of Witness : Retired
Address : 'x', Dxxxxxxxx Dxxxx, Kelty, Fife, (Scotland), KYx xxJ.
Telephone Number : 013838xxxxx

This statement, consisting of 4 (??Pages), each signed by me, is true to the best of my knowledge and belief and I make it knowing that, if it is tendered in evidence, I shall be liable to prosecution if I have wilfully stated in it anything which I know to be false or do not believe to be true.

Dated the 24th day of September 2007.

I reside at the address stated with my husband. My brother-in-law stays in Amsterdam and works with a Security Firm out there. When he returns to the UK, we go out there and stay in his house at 'xx', Pxxxx xxx xxxx, LW Amsterdam, tel : 00312063xxxxx.

We went out with friends on 7th(sic) August 2007 and stayed there for three weeks.

On 3rd(sic) August 2007, I was talking to my friend, Ella Hope, about the Cruisers (cruise ships) and at around half past five, quarter to six, (1730 hours/1745 hours), we went down to footpath where there is a promenade type footpath by the river where we could see the Cruisers turning round and going out to sea. We sat at the edge of the path and were talking about the ships. At about this time, a wee lassie came around us to our right. As we looked at the water, I could see a couple. They sat in the bushes and I thought this was strange. They had a Mediterranean type skin with dark hair. It was a man and a woman. It was difficult to see them but they were partially hidden by the bushes. I think the female was wearing a white top and black skirt or trousers.

Continuation of Statement : -

Page 2564 (Page 2 of 2 )

The wee lassie was aged at around 4 years old. She was 3 feet tall, maybe slightly taller, slim build.
She had shoulder length hair but the fringe was down over her face covering her eyes. She had a red long-sleeved t-shirt on and lilac trousers and they had flared bottoms and appeared slightly too short.
Both the top and the trousers appeared washed out. The wee girl walked around us 3 or 4 times, I think 4, nothing was said. She didn't lift her head. I could see a gold chain with a name on it, I know it was a long name with an'L' or 'K', at the end as I could see the upright of the letter. The child never lifted her head and never spoke.

At about this time a male person walked in front of us, he never said anything. We were sat at the top of the stairs and he was at the bottom. The wee lassie she just walked over to him and stood in front of him. The wee girl just looked as well. The wee girl then walked over to the Mediterranean couple and the female fixed her trousers. The male that stood in front of me was about 6ft tall, dressed in a dark suit, maybe navy/dark grey. I think he had a shirt and tie on. It was a single breasted suit. Slim build, in his late 50's- early 60's, he had grey wavy hair swept back, he had a long face, which I would describe as shallow, without prominent cheekbones, he was clean shaven.

When the couple and child left, he went in the same direction. Nothing was said. We were sat on the north side of the river, near to a housing district and a primary school. We were in the same area as the wee girl for around half an hour or so.

We had to leave at about 1810 hrs to meet my granddaughter and husband. As I left I spoke to Ella and said I thought it was Madeleine McCann and she said she never thought of the wee girl. I don't know if there is any CCTV in the area.

I never had my camera at the time but I later went back and took a picture of where we were sat. I didn't report it to the Dutch Police because I didn't know how to contact them and I was also concerned as I do not speak Dutch.

Since I have come back I have looked at pictures of Gerry McCann and there was similarities in the mouth and nose. The wee lassie appeared to have taken a stretch and was skinnier then her pictures.

During the time I observed the child it was hot and in daylight. If I saw the man in the suit and the wee lassie again I would be able to recognise them again but I wouldn't be able to recognise the couple again.

Dated the 25th day of September 2007.

I am a friend of Isobel Finlayson. On the 1st August 2007(sic), I went on holiday with Isobel on the 3rd August(sic).

We went down to look at the cruise ships at the sea in Amsterdam. I had never seen anything like this and we went down to the water's edge, we sat by the steps and were watching the boats. As we were sat down there at around tea-time I was aware of a wee lassie, she was running around and when she ran past me she tapped me on the hand, as my hand was on the railing and I tapped her back. I said, "Hello" and "you having great fun", she never acknowledged me or indicated she understood what I was saying. I then said, "are you waving to the big ship ?", and again she never said anything.

When the ship left we went back home, as we were leaving Isobel said, "do you think that is Maddie ?". I thought she was jumping the gun but the wee lassie was about 4 years old with chin length blonde hair with a long fringe wearing a red top and mauve trousers.

I don't know if it was Madeleine McCann.

Mrs Cotter stated the child was distressed which is what drew her attention to her. Mrs COTTER heard the child say to the man carrying her, "I wish you would go away", the man replied, "I'm not going away, I have to get some cigarettes". Mrs COTTER is unfamiliar with Roscoff and cannot give a street name where she made the sighting, she described the area as a street with restaurants in the centre of Roscoff adjacent to a pier.

Mrs COTTER boarded the Brittany Ferry, Roscoff to Ringaskiddy Port, Cork and reported the matter to a staff member who contacted the British Police. Devon and Cornwall Police (station not known) then contacted Cobh Garda (Police) Station, Togher District, close to the Ferry Port in Cork.

Mrs Cotter was interviewed and this report taken from her upon her arrival in Cork earlier today.

UNQUOTE.

The male and child seen in Roscoff are not believed to have taken the Ferry to Ireland and their present whereabouts are unknown. A written statement will be taken from Mrs COTTER in the coming days.

MESSAGE ENDS.
