Please find enclosed statement taken from Alex McCallum who attended at Milngavie Police Office. Have enclosed my statement taken from him along with his handwritten letter to Police. At no point could he describe the girl that he thought resembled Madeleine McCann, hence the reason I have not put a descriprion in the statement. When asked to describe all he said was, "She looked like Madeleine". I asked him to describe further with(out) avail.
Cheers

In the Files the pages of the letter, and the later Statement, have been mixed up with some later pages being inserted before the earlier pages. 1.
Late afternoon on Sunday June 17th this year (2007) my wife, adult grand-daughter and myself went for coffee in the Frizzell area of Bournemouth after a visit to a building site of 900 flats being built nearby, where my grand-son hopes to reside when completed in October.
My grand-daughter swiftly parked her family car, a Merc, at the same time as the dark blue BMW in front. A tallish man of athletic built, late 40's, rounded head and neatly clipped short hair, got out of it and moved towards us. I could not see we had done anything wrong. Surely not road-rage. Apparently he was concerned with the car that had pulled up behind us at the same time. We had separated them.
In the cafe on the corner adorned with classically ancient murals on the walls, the group sat together like a wax museum, never looking or moving in any direction.
We were the only ones beside them. A middle-aged man looked ordinary, also the woman beside him in spectacles, smaller. The boy not yet a teenager stood immobile between them gazing towards me all the time.

2.
The very young girl with her wide eyes did not look like the boy as being of the same nationality.
Both my family thought it to be merely my fertile imagination to be at work when I thought the girl could be the missing Madeleine. The other woman in the group I could not see her face, only her back towards me, looked foreign with brunette hair tied together at the back of her neck. Slightly wavy perhaps.
Conclusion. Why were they not talking to one another ? Was their language different from one another that they could only communicate only when out of earshot ? What of the...(illegible)...boy ? Was it really a family, all different, returning from holiday with the boot of the other car behind full, it appears, to the brim with clothes levelled out and no sign of suitcases ? Given the benefit of the doubt they looked a motley lot.
Note :(sic) I was wearing a Pegasus Bridge badge with the Normandy flag from an earlier visit. Did they think they were being followed ?

They sat for a while, long after our coffee was gone with nothing on their table. Eventually, it appeared the young girl was given "jelly" from the "BMW" man on his knee, whereupon she appeared weary and rested on his shoulder. They were still there when we left. If the "jellyglass" had been tested it would have read male DNA.
Were the children drugged ? If her hair had been dyed,...( (illegible)...as on TV), as photographs depict she wore a headband to hide any change in roots colouring.
(Note : From here, witness's writing is becoming more difficult to read)
(letter continues) :
- Perhaps I am one who thought it could be Madeleine like 5000 others.
(Note : Here, witness has drawn a shape like a head, (Note : but looks more like a pail), filled in in a dark scribble, with the words "Top", "Chin", "(illegible)", "Narrow" and "Headband" written on the left margin of the page)
If I was right she could be here in Britain.
One report I read in a newspaper was of a Frenchman who kept an abducted child for two months before handing over to a paedophile group.
A dullish day it was with few about.
Could be harmless but odd.

There is no clue as the whereabouts of
the missing child Madeleine. What
do you think about the situation ?
Just someone with a fertile imagination ?
Or were they waiting for someone
else, or time for drug-taking ?

Statement :
My name is Alex McCallum. I am 84 years of age. I have stayed at my home address for 5 years now. I left my home address on Friday 15th June 2007, heading, by car, to Bournemouth, where myself, my wife Cynthia and my grand-daughter Lucy...(illegible)....were staying at St...(illegible)...(illegible)...site for a week in a luxury caravan.
My grand-daughter Lucy parked her car on the street near to the cafe, at the same time I noticed a dark blue BMW saloon (NFD) in front of Lucy's vehicle. A male of the following description got out of the said vehicle. He was around 6 feet of athletic build, late 40's, rounded head and neatly clipped short hair, he was of European appearance. He then made his way towards the car which had parked behind us, am not sure of the make but I reckon a vehicle of equal size. The vehicle behind us had it's boot filled ot the brim with clothes, up to the level where a partial shelf would go. It was late afternoon when Lucy parked the car on Sunday 17th June 2007 and myself, wife and Lucy went for a coffee in the Frizzell area of Bournemouth. Am not sure of the cafe's name, but it was on the corner and the walls within were adorned with classic ancient murals.

Continuation Sheet :
The group, 1 male adult and 2 female adults and two children, boy and girl, entered the same cafe as ourselves and sat together, like something out of a wax museum, not looking or moving in any direction. We sat near to them. The adult male was the gentleman I described earlier. One of the female adults as being small with spectacles NFD and the other female adult had dark hair pulled back in a bun, taller and possibly early 50's NFD. The boy with the group I would reckon was around 8 years of age, was standing motionless between the male and the woman who had her hair swept back in a bun, gazing straight ahead in my direction. The young girl who was with them, who I possibly think resembles Madeleine McCann did not look like she was from the same family as the little boy. They looked of different nationalities.
All persons sitting at the table were not talking to each other. They sat for a while after our coffee was finished with nothing on their table. A short while later the young girl was fed jelly while she sat on the male's knee. At no point feeding herself. Once finished she appeared tired and weary and rested her head on the male's shoulder. We then left the cafe and they were still there.
I ask myself, "Were the children drugged ?".
The little girl's hair may be dyed, but she wore a headband to hide any change in root colouring, coming underneath her chin.
I remember from the news, a girl being fed jelly. Is this possibly linked ?
