One thousand lanterns will float into the skies this week to mark the number of days Madeleine McCann has been missing.
Supporters will release the lights — a symbol of hope and remembrance — at key locations across Britain, Portugal and America. The UK lantern ceremony will take place on The Roof Gardens in Kensington as Maddie's parents host a star-studded dinner to raise funds for their search.
Kate and Gerry are charging £170, and are hoping guests splash out even more on the numerous auction items up for grabs.
Donation Among them are copies of Harry Potter novels signed by author JK Rowling and flights donated by Virgin tycoon Richard Branson.
Family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said yesterday: "Kate and Gerry are overwhelmed by the support since their daughter's disappearance. "It is yet another initiative to boost the Find Madeleine Fund and, of course, another difficult milestone for them.

The youngster, now six, vanished from a holiday apartment in Portugal's Praia da Luz in May 2007.
