They left in a blue Citroen Xsara Nr Y 797 LHT.

Does the Cathorine (sic) Joana Mary family, owner of the car, living Solihull has (sic) any young children?

Are they known of (sic) your documentation?

With regard to our message dated 11-05-2007 (copy attached) about this subject with photographs of a man and a girl in a bus in Dublin our police officers who are investigating their eventual location, would like to carry out urgent house to house inquiries along the bus’s route and in the area where the man and the girl got out of the bus.

We would be grateful if you would urgently inform us whether the images of the man and the girl are of interest to your investigation.

Subject: Madeleine Beth McCann, born 12-05-2003, British Citizen – Missing.

With regard to your request of 4-5-2007, the Zurich airport police state the following:

On 11-5-2007, Karsten Kuppers, German citizen, lawyer, resident in Portugal appeared before this police force and stated:

Mr Kuppers was in the self-service restaurant in Terminal 2, departures area, in Zurich airport on 11-05-2007 at about 12.15, when he saw a group composed of two men, 1 woman, 1 boy and 1 girl. The group was sitting in front of Mr Kuppers, their behaviour was rather strange. They did not appear to be a normal family, the children appeared frightened and the girl and boy were treated with some distance. The adults spoke German and English, it was not possible to make out the language of the children.

The group left the restaurant when three police officers sat down close to them. Mr Kuppers saw the group again at 12.40 in Terminal 2, immediately after leaving.

Mr Kuppers remembers the girl who disappeared from your country, he went to the faz.net site and saw the photo of Madeleine McCann.

As the girl in the photo was very similar to the girl at the airport, he contacted the police.

Description of the group:

- Man, aged about 56-60, about 1.76 tall, well built. Greying short hair, sort clipped beard, spoke German, walked with a stick.
- Man, aged about 40-50, about 1.80m tall, medium slim build, short dark hair, spoke German.
- Woman, aged about 25-40, abut 1.68m tall, medium build, light brown shoulder length hair, broad face, probably a German citizen.
- Boy, aged 4-5, spiky hair, slightly taller than the girl.
- Girl, aged about 3-4 years, similar looking to the girl on the faz.net site.

Unfortunately, Mr Kuppers only contacted the police 4 hours afterwards and it was not possible to find the group. It is not known if all of the group or just some of them left our country. The airport restaurant does not have security cameras. Although part of the departures area is controlled by video surveillance, the group was not spotted.

We request that you immediately inform us if the description of the group corresponds to the persons found. We request that you send our cabinet photos of the suspects so that we can compare them to Mr Kuppers’ observations and with the Zurich airport video control. Are there any signs that the suspects could have left your country, possibly via Switzerland?


Have you obtained additional information by means of checking the passenger lists? Do you have any more information from the airport police?

Subject: Madeleine Beth McCann, born 12-05-2003, British Citizen – Missing


On 11-05-2007 at 11.00 an employee of Corseaux council, responsible for the cleaning of the public changing rooms, was intrigued by the behaviour of two men and two children, the persons in question approached the public changing rooms with a girl, when the saw that the employee was cleaning, they quickly put the girl into a brown Hyundai car with Swedish number plate UEJ 284 and left the scene.

Description:

- Man, blond, 35-40, 1.85m – 1.90m tall.
- Man, 1.80, blond.
- Girl, 3-4, blonde, dressed in pink, sun glasses.
- Boy, 3 years at most, no further details.

The witness, aware of the disappearance of Maddie, stated that the girl was very similar. In spite of searches made it was not possible to intercept the car.

Controls carried out show that the car in question is registered to Ingrid Borling, resident in Sweden. This is a woman with three children, born in 1984, 1988 and 1990. Your services should make the necessary checks.

We are at your disposal for any further information. Please inform us about the results of the checks.
