I am the abovementioned person living at the address previously supplied to the Leicestershire police. I was questioned about my friendship with the McCann and the Healy families, as well as about my visits to Portugal during the Summer of 2007.

During my childhood I lived with my mother in the same street as Brian and Susan Healy, who are Kate’s parents. I have known Kate since she was 6 months old and my mother and hers are still great friends today. We went to the same school even though I was 6 years older than Kate. We continued our friendship during school and into adulthood.

Kate met Gerry whilst at university about 13 or 14 years ago and they married about 10 years ago. They have 3 children, Madeleine almost 5 years of age and twins, Sean and Amelie, who are 3 years old. In October 1998 my husband and I had our daughter, Ellie, and Kate and Gerry married at Christmas that same year. Kate and Gerry adored Ellie, they both wanted to have children. Kate imagined having a tribe of 6 or 7. When Kate became pregnant with Madeleine it was a great event for them, given that Kate had faced problems with conceiving. After the birth of Madeleine the family moved to Amsterdam so that Gerry could continue his professional training. While they were there Kate received IVF treatment and became pregnant with the twins. It was a difficult pregnancy but Sean and Amelie were born healthy in February 2006. Before the disappearance of Madeleine last year, Mark and I used to see Kate, Gerry and the family approximately every two months, we went to Leicester or they would come to Liverpool.

On the morning of 4 May 2007 Kate’s mother telephoned my mother who, in turn, telephoned me. My mother told me that something terrible had happened, that somebody had taken Madeleine. I sent a text message to Kate that same night and later
spoke with her on the telephone. She was hysterical, saying only that she wanted to be able to hug Madeleine. She was worried by the fact that there were only two police officers on the scene and thought that the police were not helping with anything. She continued to speak about Madeleine, of the cold that she could be feeling since she was dressed only in pyjamas and continued to look at the situation from Madeleine’s perspective. She told me that Gerry was outside to find the girl and during the following day we spoke on the telephone and we frequently sent messages [to each other].

On Saturday I spoke on the telephone with Gerry who was sobbing and we decided that I would go to Portugal as soon as Nicky Gill and Michelle Thompson returned home, to replace them and to help out. During 2007 I travelled to Portugal on 3 separate occasions: from 12 - 19 May; 26 - 29 June; and 19 - 26 August.

On the first occasion I caught the same flight as the priest Paul Seddon and we arrived on Saturday night. We went straight to the apartment where Kate and Gerry were dining, Gerry embraced us and Kate was crying. We remained for some time and Kate repeated "Where is she? Who has her?" I felt that Kate and Gerry were focused on the idea to find Madeleine by their own means, and that nothing had been advanced by the local police. I stayed in a separate room in Kate and Gerry’s apartment during my entire stay. I helped in the attempt to keep the daily routine of the twins, namely in taking them to the crèche . Gerry and Kate always returned for lunch and would take the children to afternoon tea in the attempt to give a semblance of normality. Kate and Gerry were involved in innumerable interviews with the press and the police all day, but always arranged to available to pay attention to the twins, namely the bath before sleep. During the evening we would speak about how things had gone during the day and make plans for the following day.

During the first week that I was in Portugal Kate and Gerry were transported by Mark Warner representatives. Sandy Cameron was also there and possessed a hire car, but it was not the Renault Scenic that Gerry and Kate rented during the third week that I stayed with them in Portugal.

During the second week that I was there, I travelled [to Portugal] with Nicky Gill. We stayed with Trish and Sandy in an apartment close to Kate and Gerry. On this occasion Gerry drove a hire car but I do not remember if it was Sandy’s previous car or the Renault Scenic.

In the third week I travelled [to Portugal] with my husband, Mark, our daughter Ellie and the priest Paul Seddon. Ellie and I stayed in the Villa that Kate and Gerry had rented, Paul and Mark stayed in an apartment in the immediate vicinity. During this period both Kate and Gerry drove the Renault Scenic and I frequently travelled in that vehicle.

With respect to the accommodation where I stayed, I noticed nothing strange. With respect to the rental cars, at no time did I notice anything strange about any of them.
There was never a disagreeable or intense smell. We frequently used the boot of the vehicles to place the children’s and our belongings, given that there were two child's chairs in the rear section that left no extra space.

That Kate and Gerry could in any way have hidden Madeleine and carried her body inside of the car seems doubtful. They are both devoted parents and it is incomprehensible that they would have harmed Madeleine. As far as I know, Gerry and Kate were never alone once that they had the press following them everywhere, and they would not have had a chance to do it. I also think that it would have been impossible for Madeleine to have left the apartment by herself.

Since Kate and Gerry returned to the United kingdom, we have kept contact through written messages almost on a daily basis. I went to visit them a few times in Leicester and they have also already visited us. I have a mobile phone with the number 0780xxxx900 that I use to contact Kate and Gerry. This telephone is with the O2 service provider. My husband Mark has a mobile with the number 0783xxxx936 with the Orange service provider. At home we have a fixed telephone line with the number 01704xxx594.

This statement was made by me and is true in accordance with my understanding.

Sou a pessoa acima referenciada moradora no endereço previamente fornecido à policia de Leicestershire. Fui questionada relativamente ao meu relacionamento de amizade com os McCann e a familia Healy bem como as minhas visitas a Portugal durante o Verão de 2007.
Duarante a minha infância vivi com a minha mãe na mesma rua que o Brian e a Susan Healy, que são os pais de Kate. Conheço a Kate desde os seus 6 meses de idade e a minha mãe e a dela ainda hoje são grandes amigas. Frequentamos a mesma escola embora eu tivesse mais 6 anos que a Kate. Continuamos a nossa amizade durante a escola e até à idade adulta.
Kate conheceu o Gerry quando frequentava a universidade há cerca de 13 ou 14 anos e casaram há cerca de 10 anos. Tem 3 crianças, Madeleine quase com 5 anos de idade e os gémeos Sean e Amelie que tem 3 anos. Em Outubro de 1998 o meu marido e eu tivemos a nossa filha Ellie e a Kate o Gerry casaram no Natal desse mesmo ano. Kate e Gerry adoravam a Ellie, ambos desejavam filhos. A Kate imaginava ter uma tribo de 6 ou 7. Quando a Kate engravidou da Madeleine foi um grande acontecimento para eles, uma vez que a Kate havia enfrentado problemas em conceber. Depois do nascimento da Madeleine a familia mudou-se
para Amesterdão para que o Gerry continuasse o seu estágio profissional. Enquanto lá estiveram, a Kate recebeu tratamento intra uterino e engravidou dos gémeos. Foi uma gravidez dificil mas o Sean e a Amelie nasceram saudáveis em Fevereiro de 2006. Antes do desaparecimento da Madeleine no ano passado, Mark e eu costumavamos ver a Kate, o Gerry e a familia aproximadamente de dois em dois meses, indo nós a Leicester ou vindo eles a Liverpool.
Na manhã do dia 04 de Maio de 2007 a mãe da Kate telefonou à minha mãe que por sua vez me telefou a mim. A minha mãe disse-me que algo de terrivel havia acontecido, que alguém havia levado a Madeleine. Enviei uma messagem de texto à Kate na mesma noite e mais tarde falei com ela ao telefone. Ela estava em estado de histeria, disse que só queria poder abraçar a Madeleine. Estava preocupada pelo facto de haver somente dois agentes no local e pensava que a policia não estava a ajudar em nada. Continuou a falar sobre a Madeleine, do frio que poderia sentir visto que só tinha vestido o pijama e continuou a olhar a situação da
perspectiva de Madeleine. Ela disse-me que o Gerry estava fora à procura da filha e durante o dia seguinte falamos ao telefone e enviamos mensagens escritas com frequência.
No Sábado falei com o Gerry ao telefone que estava a soluçar em lágrimas e decidimos que eu iria para Portugal assim que o Nicky Gill e o Michelle Thompson regressassem a casa, para substitui-los e prestar auxilio. Duarnte o ano de 2007, viajei para Portugal em 3 ocasiões distintas:
De 12 – 19 de Maio, de 26 – 29 de Junho e de 19 – 26 de Agosto.
Na primeira ocasião apanhei o mesmo voo que o padre Paul Seddon e chegamos no Sábado à noite. Dirigimo-nos ao apartamento onde Kate e o Gerry estavam a jantar, o Gerry abraçounos e a Kate estava a chorar. Permanecemos algum tempo e a Kate repetia “onde é que ela está? Quem é que a tem?” Fiquei com a sensação que a Kate o Gerry estavam focados na ideia de encontrar Madeleine pelos seus próprios meios, e nada lhe foi adiantado pela policia local. Pernoitei num quarto separado no apartamento de Kate e Gerry durante toda a minha estadia. Ajudei na tentativa de manter a rotina diária dos gémeos, nomeadamente nas idas
para a creche. Gerry e a Kate regressavam sempre para o almoço e levavam as crianças para lanchar na tentativa de dar um semblante de normalidade. Kate e o Gerry estavam envolvidos em inumeras entrevistas com a imprensa e a policia durante todo o dia, mas arranjavam sempre disponibilidade para dar atenção aos gémeos, nomeadamente o banho antes de dormir. Durante o serão falavamos sobre como tinha decorrido o dia e os planos para o dia seguinte.
Durante a primeira semana que estive em Portugal a Kate e o Gerry eram transportados pelos representantes de Mark Warner. O Sandy Cameron também se encontrava lá e possuía uma viatura de aluguer, mas não era o Renault Scenic que o Gerry e a Kate alugaram durante a terceira semana que passei com eles em Portugal.
Na segunda semana que lá estive, viajei com o Nicky Gill. Ficamos hospedadas com a Trish e o Sandy no apartamento perto da Kate e do Gerry. Nesta ocasião o Gerry conduzia uma viatura de aluguer mas não me recordo se era o anterior carro de Sandy ou o Renault scenic.
Na terceira semana viajei com o meu marido Mark, a nossa filha Ellie e o padre Paul Seddon.
Eu e a Ellie ficamos hospedadas na villa que a Kate e o Gerry haviam alugado, o Paul e o Mark ficaram num apartamento nas imediações. Durante este período ambos a Kate e o Gerry conduziam o Renault Scenic e viajei nessa viatura com frequência.
Relativamente aos aposentos onde fiquei hospedada, não reparei em nada de estranho.
Relativamente às viaturas de aluguer, em tempo algum notei algo de estranho em nenhuma delas; nunca houve nenhum cheiro desagradável ou intenso. Usamos com frequência a bagageira dos veículos para colocar as coisas das crianças e as nossas, uma vez que havia duas cadeirinhas no banco traseiro, o que não deixava espaço extra.
De forma alguma a Kate e o Gerry podiam ter escondido a Madeleine e transportado o seu corpo dentro do carro para parte incerta. Eles são ambos pais devotos e é incompreensível que tivessem ferido a Madeleine. Tanto quanto sei, o Gerry e a Kate nunca estavam sós uma vez que tinham a imprensa a seguir-lhe todos os passos, e não teriam tido oportunidade para o fazer. Também penso que teria sido impossivel a Madeleine ter abandonado o apartamento por si própria.
Desde que a Kate e o Gerry regressaram ao Reino Unido, temos mantido contacto através de mensagens escritas quase iáriamente. Fui visitá-los a Leicester umas quantas vezes e eles também já nos visitaram. Tenho um telemóvel com o número 0780xxxx900 que utilizo para contactar a Kate e o Gerry. Este telefone é da operadora O2. O meu marido Mark tem um telemóvel com o número 0783xxxx936 da operadora Orange. Em casa temos um telefone fixo com o número 01704xxx594.
