Within the context of the investigation mentioned above into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann and following the telephone contact made by officers of this police force on the 4th May 2007 with the Traffic Controller of Euroscut Algarve, Rui Afonso, I request your collaboration as quickly as possible, with relation to the security cameras existing on the A22 VIA DO INFANTE motorway, if there are video recordings of these, especially concerning the time period between 21.00 on 3rd May 2007 and 07.00 of the following day, with respect to the stretch of the A22 between Lagos and the border with Spain of V.R.S ANTONIO and in the affirmative case, their preservation and delivery in digital format to this Police department is requested.

Subject: Sending of DNA Polimorphisms



Within the context of the Criminal Process NUIPC 201.07.0GALGS investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, on the day of 3rd May 2007, from the Ocean Club resort in Praia da Luz, Lagos, a biological vestige was recovered, which could be of value for identification purposes.

In this investigation, the Policia Judiciaria has contact, especially with the collaboration of Leicestershire Constabulary Police, namely by means of the intermediary Superintendent Stuart Prior, given that we attach high interest to the possibility of comparing the vestige collected with the elements that are contained, eventually, available in pre-existing DNA data bases.

Therefore, we request that the profile of the vestige in question be introduced into the data bases of Interpol and of the United Kingdom, for comparison and eventual identification, together with sending the DNA profile obtained from the same.

Dear Sirs,


With reference to your fax sent on 21st November 2007 of which we have taken good note.

We inform you that we still do not have any image recordings of the period between 21.00 on 3rd May 2007 and 07.00 on the following day.

But we inform you that, in compliance with the contractual obligations governing the concession, we proceeded to record the images of the following period which is close to that mentioned by you:

- Day 3-5-2007 North Alvor – North of Portimao, in the Portugal – Spain direction, between 08.00 and 09.25.
- Day 4-5-2007 North of Alga, North of Alcantarinha, in the Spain –Portugal direction between 11.00 and 11.55.
- Day 4-5-2007 North of Lagos, North of Odiaxere, in the Spain-Portugal direction, between 12.00 and 13.25.

However, it is important to note that the images obtained by means of these recordings do not permit either the identification of vehicle number plates, nor of the respective passengers or drivers. The images in question could eventually be provided to you by means of a competent court order.
